ScanMyShift Terms of Use
Effective date: September 6, 2026
Last updated: September 6, 2026
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ScanMyShift Android app, its roster-recognition service and related features (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Zhang Biao (张彪), an individual developer based in China ("ScanMyShift", "we", "us" or "our").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service for an employer or another organization, you confirm that you are authorized to do so and that your use complies with that organization's rules. Mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer law are not waived by these Terms.
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is processed. It is important and should be read with these Terms.
2. What ScanMyShift does
ScanMyShift helps you create editable work-shift records from manual entry or a roster image and, only after your review and confirmation, write selected shifts to a calendar you choose. The Service does not create a ScanMyShift account or provide our own cross-device shift synchronization.
Manual shift entry is available without uploading a roster image and does not consume a cloud-recognition credit. Cloud recognition, advertising and Pro subscriptions are separate features subject to the conditions below.
ScanMyShift is a scheduling aid. It is not an employer, payroll, attendance, medical, legal, human-resources or emergency service. It does not make employment, eligibility or disciplinary decisions.
3. Eligibility and authority
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms where you live. If you are below the age at which you can enter into these Terms independently, you may use the Service only with authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
You may upload or enter a roster, name, note, work location or other content only if you have the right or appropriate permission to use and share it for this purpose. A roster may contain information about coworkers or other people. You are responsible for obtaining any permission required by your employer, workplace policy or applicable law and for removing unnecessary information before upload.
Do not upload patient records, medical information, government identity documents, payment-card information, account passwords, authentication secrets or other information that is unnecessary for scheduling.
4. Cloud recognition and AI output
Cloud recognition sends the entire selected roster image, the target employee name and a request identifier through our Cloudflare Worker to contracted AI processing providers. The actual provider route may change. See the Privacy Policy for the processing and retention boundaries.
AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, duplicated or assigned to the wrong person or date. You must review names, dates, times, overnight shifts, locations, notes and work/rest status before saving or writing anything to a calendar. The app is designed to require confirmation, but that safeguard does not replace your review.
Do not rely on ScanMyShift as the only record of when or where you must work. Compare important shifts with the original roster and your employer's current instructions. We are not responsible for decisions made solely from unverified AI output to the extent permitted by law.
5. Local records, permissions and calendars
Your shift library, settings and recognition-credit balance are primarily stored on your device. Clearing app data, uninstalling the app, losing the device or changing devices may make those records unavailable. We do not promise cloud recovery of local records.
Camera and calendar functions require the relevant Android permissions. You control whether to grant or revoke them. Calendar events are created, updated or deleted only in response to actions you take in the app, but the app cannot guarantee that every calendar provider, synchronized account, shared calendar, backup or notification will behave identically.
You are responsible for choosing the correct calendar and checking the resulting events. Deleting a ScanMyShift record does not necessarily delete a calendar event. Clearing local data or uninstalling can remove the link needed for ScanMyShift to find an event later. Events stored in Google Calendar, a workplace calendar or another provider remain subject to that provider's terms and controls.
6. Free use and recognition credits
The free plan may include a limited number of cloud recognitions per period and credits earned from rewarded ads. The current amount, reset period and applicable conditions are shown in the app. Manual entry remains available without a cloud-recognition credit.
Recognition credits are a limited, revocable right to request an in-app cloud-recognition attempt. They are not money, stored value, property or a gift card; they cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged or redeemed for cash. Locally stored credits may be lost when app data is cleared, the app is uninstalled or the device is changed. We may adjust future free-credit limits to manage cost, abuse, security or service availability, but will not misrepresent an already completed purchase.
A credit is normally settled only after a usable recognition result is saved. Network, provider or local-storage failures can prevent a request or result from completing. The Service may impose technical rate limits in addition to the in-app balance.
7. Rewarded advertising
Free users may choose to view a rewarded ad for the specific in-app recognition credit disclosed before that ad. Each rewarded ad is optional and requires a separate affirmative choice. Skipping or closing it does not block manual entry or other available non-ad features.
A reward is added only when the advertising SDK reports that the reward was earned for that ad instance and the app successfully stores it. Loading failures, display failures, closing before the earned-reward event, interrupted callbacks or local-storage failures may result in no credit. If the SDK reports an earned reward but local saving fails, the app may offer a retry where supported; it does not promise remote recovery because ScanMyShift has no server-side reward account.
Rewarded credits are non-transferable, usable only within ScanMyShift and have no cash value. ScanMyShift—not Google—defines and grants the in-app reward. You may not manipulate ad callbacks, automate ad viewing, generate invalid traffic or otherwise obtain credits fraudulently.
8. Pro subscriptions
Pro may include unlimited personal cloud recognition, removal of ScanMyShift-controlled ads, batch calendar settings and supported reminder options. The exact benefits available to you are described in the current app and purchase screen. "Unlimited" remains subject to reasonable technical, security and abuse-prevention limits and does not guarantee uninterrupted upstream AI availability.
Subscriptions are offered through Google Play. Before purchase, Google Play and the app display the applicable product, localized price, billing period, trial or introductory phases if you are eligible, and the recurring price. Those purchase-screen details control over examples, prototypes or older descriptions. RevenueCat helps the app read subscription status; Pro access is active only when the required entitlement is reported for the relevant Google Play account.
Unless the purchase screen says otherwise, an auto-renewing subscription continues and Google Play charges the applicable price at the start of each billing period until you cancel. You can manage or cancel it through the Google Play subscription center linked from the app. Uninstalling ScanMyShift, clearing local data or stopping use does not cancel a subscription.
Cancellation generally stops future renewal and Pro remains available until the end of the already paid period. Refund eligibility, timing and payment processing are governed by Google Play's applicable policies and mandatory local law. You can use Google Play's refund process or contact us at the address below for help. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
Use Restore purchases while signed in to the Google Play account that made the purchase. Restoration can fail or be delayed because of account selection, payment status, store availability, configuration or network conditions. A receipt or completed purchase does not unlock Pro if the required entitlement has not yet been confirmed; contact support if the status remains incorrect.
9. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- violate applicable law, workplace rules, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual-property or other rights;
- upload content you are not authorized to share, or use the Service to monitor, profile or make decisions about another person without an appropriate basis;
- submit malware, harmful code or content intended to compromise the Service or a provider;
- probe, disrupt, overload or bypass security, rate limits, recognition credits, advertising rewards, subscription checks or access controls;
- automate access, scrape the Service or resell recognition capacity without our written permission;
- reverse engineer or extract source code except to the extent such a restriction is prohibited by law; or
- misrepresent AI output as verified employer instructions or use it for high-impact employment, medical, legal or safety decisions.
We may block a request, restrict cloud features or suspend access where reasonably necessary to prevent abuse, protect people or systems, comply with law or enforce these Terms. Where practical and legally required, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue.
10. Your content and our intellectual property
You retain any rights you have in the roster images, names, shift details, notes and other content you provide. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free license to host, transmit, format and process that content only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot and support the Service, subject to the Privacy Policy. This license ends when the content is no longer needed for those purposes, subject to provider retention and legal obligations described in the Privacy Policy.
The ScanMyShift app, interface, branding, documentation and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and use the app for its intended purpose. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the Service or third-party software to you.
Feedback you voluntarily provide may be used without payment or obligation to you, but we will not treat roster content or personal information as product feedback.
11. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties including Google Play, Google AdMob, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, Firebase, AI processing providers and the calendar provider you select. Your use of their services may be governed by their own terms and policies. We do not control their independent accounts, purchase decisions, advertisements, networks, platform availability or calendar synchronization.
Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and do not make their content part of these Terms. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for third-party acts outside our reasonable control. This does not limit our responsibility for selecting or using processors where applicable law makes us responsible.
12. Availability, changes and termination
We may maintain, update, replace or discontinue features; change compatible devices or providers; introduce or adjust reasonable quotas; or temporarily suspend the Service for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, technical failure or maintenance. Cloud recognition can become unavailable because of network, Cloudflare, AI gateway or model-provider conditions.
We will not use a change to avoid obligations for a completed purchase. If a material change adversely affects a paid subscription, we will provide notice or an available remedy where required by Google Play rules or applicable law. You may stop using the Service at any time, but must separately cancel an active subscription to stop future renewal.
We may terminate or restrict your access for a material or repeated breach of these Terms, fraud, security risk or legal requirement. Sections that by their nature should survive—including payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, disputes and general terms—continue after termination.
13. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or compatible with every device, roster layout, language, calendar provider or third-party service, or that AI output will be accurate or complete.
You remain responsible for reviewing output, maintaining appropriate copies of important work information, protecting your device and following authoritative employer instructions. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, guarantee or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms. We do not exclude or limit liability for fraud, willful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, violation of mandatory consumer rights, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
For other claims, our responsibility is limited to direct, reasonably foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care. You should promptly tell us about a problem and take reasonable steps to avoid preventable loss, such as checking the original roster before relying on a calendar event.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the Service, providers or law changes. We will update the date above and provide additional in-app or store notice when a change is material or when required by law. Changes apply prospectively from their stated effective date. If you do not agree to updated Terms, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription you do not want to renew.
Changes to subscription pricing or billing are also subject to Google Play requirements. Updating these Terms alone does not authorize a charge or remove rights attached to an existing purchase.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except that mandatory consumer protections and forum rights in your country or region continue to apply where they cannot be waived.
Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue. This does not prevent either party from seeking urgent relief, using an available consumer-protection process or bringing a claim in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
17. General terms
If a court or authority finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply and the affected term will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a lawful reorganization or transfer of the Service, with notice where required and without reducing mandatory rights.
These Terms, the current purchase disclosures and any additional terms expressly presented for a feature form the agreement about your use of the Service. If a purchase-screen disclosure conflicts with these Terms regarding the specific price, period or offer you selected, the purchase-screen disclosure controls for that transaction.
18. Contact
Questions, support requests and dispute notices can be sent to cherishbingo@gmail.com. Please identify ScanMyShift and describe the issue. Do not email unredacted rosters, payment-card details or passwords.
